AFSPA to be repealed at right time: Union home minister Rajnath Singh

Afspa will be revoked in Jammu and Kashmir only when the situation is “conducive” for it
Srinagar: Union home minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday the contentious Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act will be revoked in Jammu and Kashmir only when the situation is “conducive” for it.
“I want to say the situation should be such, and I pray to the almighty Afspa should not be needed anywhere in the country,” Mr Singh said after paying obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine.
The remark comes just a day after Amnesty International released a report on alleged human rights violations by the security forces in the state on the 25th anniversary of the imposition of the Afspa in Jammu and Kashmir.
Asked if the Centre would hold talks with separatists, including the Hurriyat, he said: “We have no such proposal. We are ready to listen (and) talk to anyone, but anti-national activities should be opposed and boycotted.”
