Actor Sreenivasan Launches Farmers’ Cooperative Bank, Backs Organic Farming

THRISSUR: It is cancer medicines that kill people not cancer, said actor director Sreeniv-asan after officially launc-hing Adat Farmers Coop-erative Bank’s organic Matta rice Jaivam, amrutham at a function held at Ashoka Inn hotel on Thursday.

Mr Sreenivisan alleged that there was a nexus between medicine manufacturers and corporates in the state. He added that there were ‘think tanks’ in America who spent sleepless nights thinking of how to sell their products in other countries and some medicines here were the result of such attempts.

The Adat Farmers Cooperative Bank is a pool of farmers whose 83 acres of paddy field are organically active . The project is also assisted by department of agriculture and ESAF, which according to the farmers is a huge success.

The project was inaugurated by District Panchayat president C.C. Sreekumar, Dr U. Jayaku-mar, Head Agriculture research centre, T.R. Vijayakumar chamber of commerce secretary and K. Paul Thomas ESAF.
