590 prime properties to be demolished for skyways in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: As many as 590 private properties in prime locations in Hyderabad will have to be demolished to construct multigrade separators, skyways and flyovers that have been planned by the Telangana government to ease traffic at busy city junctions.
Going by the current market value, the Telangana government will have to pay around Rs 1,500 crore as compensation to property owners. Another Rs 2,500 crore will be needed for construction.
Telangana needs to acquire 80 acres in prime locations, including state and private properties, to execute these projects and is exploring various options to mobilise the required funds. The government’s plan is to develop Hyderabad as a “global city” by spending Rs 20,000 crore.
In the first phase, it has decided to take up construction of multigrade separators, skyways etc., by spending Rs 4,050 crore, on 20 routes under the BOT method.
