Amitabh Bachchan attended US Independence day celebrations as guest of honour

The U.S. Consulate General Mumbai celebrated the 239th anniversary of U.S. independence in Mumbai. Guest of Honor Amitabh Bachchan marked the special occasion with Chief Guest Sumit Mullick, Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Protocol Officer and U.S. Consul General in Mumbai Tom Vajda.

Amitabh praised its Hollywood theme and kept the event alive with his witty sense of humour. He said that cinema has always been a great integrator of communities. The box office does not discriminate based on caste, creed, or colour.

He went on to add, “Normally Independence Day is in celebrated in America with family and friends. There are a lot of activities and there are some competitions too. Some of them are watermelon competition, hotdog eating competition, tug of war. I am happy to see that none of those events are going to be happening here tonight.”
