Collectorate senior assistant held for graft in Warangal
The accused allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Banoth Bhadru
Warangal: An official at the Warangal collectorate was caught by the ACB while taking bribe right under the nose of Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and minister Jogu Ramanna who were at the collectorate conducting review meets. Ch. Sunil Kumar, a senior assistant was trapped by the ACB, in the C-Section of the collectorate.
The accused allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Banoth Bhadru, a family member of Telangana martyr Halavath Rajender of Pallarguda village of Sangem mandal who committed suicide on February 2, 2010, during Telangana agitation. The state government announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the Telangana martyrs and once the cheques have arrived, Sunil Kumar demanded Banoth Bhadru Rs 10,000 for processing the cheque.
“Sunil Kumar demanded Rs 10,000 from Banoth Bhadru and told him that everyone does so. Acting on Bhadru’s complaint we raided Sunil Kumar’s office and recovered the amount. The accused will be arrested and produced before the additional special judge in Hyderabad,” ACB DSP Sai Baba said.
