Bengaluru: Three held for assaulting traffic sub inspector

The three accused were arrested by the Kalasipalya (law and order) police

BENGALURU: A sub inspector attached to Kalasipalya traffic police station was allegedly assaulted while carrying out checks for drunken driving, by three motorists late Tuesday night. The three accused were later arrested by the Kalasipalya (law and order) police.

The assault took place around 11.30 pm when Sub Inspector Anand, attached to Kalasipalya traffic police, along with two other policemen was on duty near Basanna Circle.

The arrested have been identified as Sachin, 26, a contract employee with a private company, Ritin, 22, an animation student and Sachin, 21, a student. They are reportedly residents of Hanumanthanagar.

The accused were in an inebriated state and going in a bike. When the policeman approached them with a breathalyzer, they tried to flee. Anand tried to hold the bike, but got pushed away by the trio and they also took away the breathalyzer.

The other two policemen chased and nabbed them. Later Anand approached Kalasipalya (Law & Order) police station and filed a complaint.

The three were booked under Section 353 of IPC and produced before the magistrate on Wednesday. They were sent to 14 days judicial custody. Kalasipalya police have registered a case.
