Telangana home secretary Burra Venkatesam transferred
Hyderabad: In a surprise move, the Telangana state government transferred principal secretary, home, Burra Venkatesam and posted IPS officer Rajiv Trivedi in his place on Tuesday.
Mr Trivedi, an IPS officer of the 1986 batch was additional director-general of police, Telangana State special police, holding additional charge of sports. Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma issued the orders through the DGP, Telangana.
Mr Venkatesam is on leave and refused to comment on his transfer. “It’s the government’s choice,” he said. The transfer comes in the midst of the cash-for-vote scandal and allegations of phone tapping and demand for implementation of Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The order came on the day Telugu Desam legislator A. Revanth Reddy secured bail. Mr Revanth Reddy is the prime accused in the case. Incidentally, IG, intelligence, B. Shivdhar Reddy too is on leave and has gone on a holiday to United States
