JEE result delay not to affect IIT classes
Chennai: Even as IIT and NIT aspirants are worried about the delay in admissions as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is yet to declare JEE (Main) ranks, administrators of these top institutes say the delay would not largely affect the admission process and classes are likely to begin as planned in August. It was expected that CBSE would announce JEE (main) ranks by Monday but it did not happen, which worried students.
Later authorities said it would be released on June 30 but until evening there was no such announcement from CBSE. According to IIT-JEE (advanced) website, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is forced to revise the schedule once again since CBSE has not yet announced the JEE (Main) 2015 Paper-1 and Paper-2 ranks.
As per the new schedule, online filling of choices will be open from June 30 to July 4, academic session for NITs and preparatory courses at IITs will start on July 27. Asked about their plan for admission in the backdrop of the delay in announcing JEE (main) ranks, IIT Madras director Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi said that as of now the institute had no problem in starting classes for
first year students as planned.
One of the directors of National Institute of Technology (NIT) too said that they too have ample time for the admission process to be done and classes to be started in August.“We have planned our schedule in such a way that any kind of delay in admission process won’t affect our reopening of the institute,” he said.
