JEE Main ranks to be out today
Hyderabad: There was further embarrassment for the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Joint Seat Allocation Authority as the former could not release JEE Main ranks even by Tuesday evening.
However, in a statement late on Tuesday night, the CBSE said that the ranks have been compiled and handed over to NIT Patna for counselling purpose.
Candidates can check their ranks after 12 noon on JEE Main or CBSE results website. Counselling for admissions to IITs and NITs couldn’t begin even on Tuesday as scheduled by the JoSAA a day earlier. After this, the JoSAA also didn’t release a fresh schedule as yet.
It was expected that the JEE Main ranks would be released on Tuesday at least considering the JoSAA had deferred Web counselling from Monday to Tuesday i.e. by only one day. Much to its chagrin, JoSAA has no choice now but to revise the schedule for the third time.
The deadline for state boards to send Class XII marks of students was set for June 25 and almost a week has passed.
CBSE chairman Satbir Bedi also didn’t respond on being asked when the ranks would be released.
Web counselling was originally set to begin from June 25 but was delayed as JEE Main ranks couldn’t be released. In a revised schedule, the JoSAA said counselling would begin from June 29 which was revised for the second time pushing it to June 30. However the second revision could also not be adhered to.
This year the JoSAA is holding joint simultaneous counselling for admissions to IITs, NITs and other central institutions.
On Tuesday, even as the JEE Main ranks were not released, the JoSAA didn’t release any clarification as to when the counselling could begin.
