Wikipedia page on Nehru edited from Govt IP address, claims Congress

The altered parts from the Wikipedia pages were changed back to the original texts in short span
New Delhi: The Wikipedia pages relating to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, were edited from a computer that could be traced back to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) offices, Congress alleged on Wednesday.
"There was an attempt to alter the Wikipedia pages of Jawaharlal Nehru and Motilal Nehru. What is worse is that the changes were done from a government IP address, specifically from the NIC, the software provider of the government. There was a sinister attempt to show that Jawaharlal Nehru was a Muslim. It doesn't matter whether he was a Muslim or a Hindu: he was an Indian. The government should conduct a full enquiry into the same," Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said at a press briefing.
The altered parts from the Wikipedia pages were changed back to the original texts in a short span, but the revision history clearly shows the attempts to malign the late leader.
" In fact both Nehru and Jinnah were paramours of Edwina Mountbatten, who blackmailed them with their ... explicit ... photos with her ... and made them sign the partition papers... She was married to him (Lord Mountbatten) only to gain access to the powers that be and arm-twist the two leaders to agree to partition," reads one of the edited texts.
It is unclear who was responsible for the act, although when the IP address was traced independently, it lead to the offices of the National Informatics Centre, as was claimed by the Congress.
Another edited text, which speaks on Nehru's birth, reads, "Allahabad District Magistrate Neeraj Gupta admitted that the house which was Nehru's birth place is a den of flesh trade. But all the records of the exact location of the house are missing from Government files. Prostitutes have divided the house into several parts, modified it and even got the house number altered for fear of its acquisition by the Government."
The Congress have demanded an apology from the Prime Minister over the issue and questioned whether the National Informatics Centre (NIC) was now engaged in a sinister attempt to convert lineage of the country's first prime minister and carry on with the propaganda of the Sangh Parivar.
"Will Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi answer to the nation how was Internet Protocol ID of Government of India and NIC was being used for this sinister malicious attempt. Will Prime Minister and the minister in-charge answer whether such a sinister attempt was being made with their consent and concurrence," added Surjewala.
