Militant hideout busted in Jammu and Kashmir, arms cache seized
Jammu: Security forces on Wednesday busted amilitant hideout and seized a cache of arms, ammunition and explosive material in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. On a specific information, Army troops and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint search operation in Jangalwar area and busted a hideout, a defence spokesperson said.
They recovered one AK-56 rifle with three magazines, two pistols with two magazines, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher and nine UBGL grenades, 423 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 20 rounds of pistol ammunition, 13 hand grenades and two Kenwood radio sets.
Replying to a query, Officiating PRO, S N Acharya said no arrests have been made in the operation. This cache had the potential to be utilised in abetting terrorist activities in the region, especially during the holy month of Ramzan and the forthcoming Machel Yatra, the PRO said.
Major General A S Rawat, General Officer Commanding of Delta Force, complimented the efforts and said, "This recovery is indeed a major blow to the inimical elements and those harboring terrorist activities which reinforces security force's positive control in the hinterland of Kishtwar".
