Karnataka Lokayukta corruption case: At Ayukta, 1 scam, but so many ‘Raos’!
Bengaluru: The City wing of the Lokayukta police is likely to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused in the corruption scam in the Lokayukta even as high-level sources told Deccan Chronicle that the investigating team has identified the elusive scamster Krishna ‘Rao’ as an overweight heavy-set man.
The team also has definite clues and evidence against his accomplice who like Krishna ‘Rao’ has also appended a fake Rao as his second name.
The second Rao is a known blackmailer who uses the front of an RTI activist and editor of a tabloid to extort money from officials. A case has been registered against him by the BBMP's employees who he had targeted in the past.
The two 'Raos' operated the multi crore scam from inside the Lokayukta offices, with the blessings of a top level police officer and in tandem with a man posing as ‘Ashwin Rao’, who shares the same name as the Lokayukta Rao’s son.
Cases will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against all the accused in the coming days. “The FIR will be registered based on the letter written by the SP, Lokayukta (City) Sonia Narang to the Registrar on May 9, which was submitted after the executive engineer, Zilla Parishath, Krishnamurthy complained to her about the alleged extortion racket in the Lokayukta,” said an official source.
