Hyderabad: The Centre appears to be adopting an ambiguous approach on the implementation of Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act that provides special responsibilities to the Governor in law and order matters in the common capital of Hyderabad.
This became evident in a letter addressed to Congress MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy by Union minister of state for home affairs Haribhai P. Chaudhary. On one hand, the letter stated that the government of India had closed the matter after it got an assurance from the government of Telangana state that it would discharge its responsibility to maintain law and order as enshrined in Constitution and the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, but on other hand it also stated that there was no need to withdraw the communication sent by the Centre to the Telangana government in June 2014.
