Bombay High Court: Nestle can export Maggi

The FSSAI, however, did not change its stance as far as ban in Maharashtra
Mumbai: In a relief to Nestle India, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday allowed it to export Maggi noodles to other countries after the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) told the court that it had no objection to the company selling its product abroad. The FSSAI, however, did not change its stance as far as ban in Maharashtra on company’s nine variants are concerned.
The division bench of justices V.M. Kanade and B.P. Colabawala allowed Nestle India to export its product that are banned in Maharashtra and various other states after FSSAI counsel Mehmood Pracha informed the court that it has no objection if company sells its products outside India.
When senior counsel Iqbal Chagla informed the court that the company is in the process of recalling and destroying product packages, he said that by the end of the month, the company would destroy 17,000 crore packets of Maggi. According to him of these, 11,000 crore packets are being recalled from the market.
