BJP demands arrest of Ambur legislator
Chennai: Wondering why leaders of secular parties have not condemned the Ambur violence, resulting in large-scale damage to property and injuries to people including police, BJP Tamil Nadu unit president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan sought the arrest of Ambur MLA for allegedly instigating the Sunday morning violence in Vellore district.
“I wonder why leaders of secular parties have not condemned the violence, which had sent shock waves across the state,” she said reacting to the incident of protest by irate group of Muslims over the death of a Muslim youth allegedly in police custody, turned violent injuring about 22 police personnel, including Vellore district Superintendent of Police P. K. Senthilkumari. Public and private properties were damaged on the arterial Chennai-Bengaluru Highway.
She demanded the arrest of Ambur MLA Aslam Baadsha, for allegedly instigating the Sunday morning violence in the area and alleged that “violence happened only after he spoke to supporters and left the place.”
