Four constables held for robbing traders
Hyderabad: Four police constables and a former constable were arrested for robbing a magic stone (a wish-fulfilling jewel) from a trader. The cops also allegedly took away some cash from the victim.
The accused had promised to buy the stone (Chintamani), which is claimed to have divine powers and asked the trader to come near Osmania University, where they assaulted him.
The main accused, advocate named Kareem, who planned the robbery, is absconding.
The arrested are Chileveru Venkata Rajam, 38, who was removed from police service, Dharavath Balu Naik, 36, from Nalgonda, a constable in Armed Reserve in Nalgonda, Kothapalli Rajugopal, 40, constable in CPL Amberpet, Malothu Srinu Naik, 35, a constable in the 1st Battalion of TS special police, and Yedalapally Raju, 38, from Sanathnagar, a constable in CAR Headquarters.
