BCCI to reveal IPL fixing suspect’s name: report
New Delhi: Season eight of India’s cash-rich Indian Premier League was largely controversy free until the news of a Rajasthan Royals’ player getting approached to fix games created a stir. Now the Board of Control for Cricket for India (BCCI) on Monday confirmed that their Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) will provide an official report on the identity of the Ranji Trophy player who was involved in the IPL corruption attempt.
“They have assured that the BCCI’s ACSU will pursue the case in earnest and will come out with a report in the coming months to ensure that everything is out in the open, and that the report is made official before the start of the domestic season (October),” a source was quoted as saying, according to a report in the ‘Indian Express’.
“We have not got any information from the BCCI on this issue. No, we have not asked them. They must have either investigated the thing or are still pursuing the case," MCA's joint secretary PV Shetty told PTI on Saturday.
On April 10, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur as well as the Rajasthan Royals team CEO Raghu Iyer praised the whistleblower for bringing to the BCCI's ACSU about an alleged approach by another individual to corrupt the game.
According to a report in the ‘Hindustan Times’, it was veteran leg-spinner Pravin Tambe who reported his fellow Mumbai team colleague to the concerned authorities.
