Digital Telangana from July 1

The week-long programme will deal with IT issues

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will be launching Digital Telangana programme from July 1 with new e-services in the endowments department (Online payment gateways for Yadgiri Gutta and Bhadrachalam) and green phablet of agriculture department.

Also, issues of cyber hygiene and cyber security will be dealt with apart from Hackathon events for a week.

During the week, a launch of biometric attendance system in Warangal district and Wi-fi service in Telangana University, Nizamabad will be held.

This would be the third major campaign of the state government after the Make in India and Clean India (Swachh Bharat) campaigns.

The campaign is aimed at enabling digital empowerment of citizens, facilitating digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen and providing governance as well as services on demand.

As part of a larger plan to improve digital literacy, the Telangana government plans laying Optic Fibre Cable to each household using the water grid trenches, providing 4G services in the entire state, Wifi in major cities and towns and e-Panchayat scheme with a One Stop Shop kiosk in each Panchayat.

Similarly, on the demand side, the intention is to make each and every person digitally empowered so that he/she can make the best use of the digital facilities that are being made available right at his/her doorstep.

For this, the school computer literacy programme to teach every child from Class VI onwards the basics of computers, expansion of mee-seva services are being planned by the state government.

Schedule for the week: July 1: Mann Ki Baat broadcast of ‘PM’s message on Digital India’ across the state

July 2: Awareness and Enrolment Day Enrolments for Aadhaar, Jeevan Praman, Digital Locker, etc at village levels

July 3: Training on new services department officers and meeseva operators at divisional and district levels

July 4: Digital Run, Essay and Elocution competitions, Panel Discussions, culture events in schools, colleges, general public at district level

July 5th: 5kms Run and Digital Raahgiri in Cyberabad to create awareness on Digital Telangana at the state level

July 6: Swatchh Digital India programme comprising of e-waste management and green IT corridor initiatives at the state level
