Mercedes Benz unveils the 2015 hybrid GLC SUV
Mercedes Benz’s newest hybrid SUV, the GLC, was unveiled in Germany and is soon expected to make its way into India. The SUV is based on the Modular Rear Architecture design and is a successor to the older GLK series.
The elegant-looking new GLC sports a few additional features, which include a sporty interior, a C-Class headlamp, chrome grilles and new alloy wheels. The car also provides a larger interior space with bigger head room for the front-seaters and larger leg room for the passengers. The front dashboard gets a stylish wooden trim with a central console for the 8.4-inch infotainment system. Nappa leather upholstery seats, climate control system and a few others made it into the new Benz GLC.
Under the hood, the GLC is powered by three engine variants—GLA 220d 4MATIC, GLC 250d 4MATIC, and GLC 250 4MATIC, brewing power of up to 170HP, 204HP and 211HP respectively. Together with the GLC version, Mercedes has also announced the Hybrid alternative, which is powered by a 350 e 4MATIC engine that churns out 211HP from petrol and 116HP from the built-in electric factory. The hybrid variant can accelerate from 0 – 100 kmph in under 5.9 seconds and can go up to 34 Km on electric mode independently. All four variants will be available in 4-wheel drive systems.
The Merc SUV is expected to give rivals a tiff competition, especially the BMW X3, the Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan.
