Digvijay Singh for CBI probe in cash for vote case

Naidu to write to the Centre seeking investigation by the Central investigating agency
Hyderabad: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh has demanded a CBI probe into the cash for vote scam as well as the phone tapping issue and asked CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu to write to the Centre seeking investigation by the Central investigating agency.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, Mr Singh said that since Mr Chandrasekhar Rao is not totally denying the phone tapping as alleged by AP, and Mr Naidu has not denied involvement in the cash for vote scam, both leaders must write to the Centre seeking a CBI probe. He said that in case they are not ready to do so, the Congress in the two states would approach the High Court seeking a CBI probe.
Mr Singh also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi speak on the Lalit Modi case or else it would be construed that he is shielding leaders named in it. He said Ms Swaraj writing letters to British officials was a clear case of misuse of her position as external affairs minister.
“Mr Modi was claiming all these days that he was running a corruption-free government. The Congress would like to ask the PM what is his thinking on the Lalit Modi scam and other scams that surfaced recently. Does the PM think they fall in the corruption category or not,” Mr Singh asked. He said till date no one knew the education qualification of Union HRD minister Smriti Irani which was a sad thing for democracy.
