Mysuru: Burdened with loan, family of 4 attempts suicide, mother dies

Dinesh had borrowed Rs 4 lakh for his younger sister’s marriage

Mysuru: Overburdened with loans, a daily wage worker in a quarry, 35-year-old Dinesh reportedly attempted to commit suicide by consuming food mixed with pesticide along with his wife, after feeding it to their two children at Chinakurali village in Pandavapura town police station limits here Sunday morning.
While his wife, 30-year-old Shwetha died, Dinesh is battling for life at KR Hospital in Mysuru. Their daughters, three-year-old Monika and four-year-old Spandana, who are being treated at KR Hospital are out of danger, according to doctors treating them.
Dinesh reportedly had some agricultural land which he sold and worked as daily wage worker in a nearby quarry, sources said. According to a complaint by Shwetha’s father Thimmegowda, Dinesh had borrowed Rs 4 lakh for his younger sister’s marriage. Unable to repay it, he would have taken the extreme step, police said. Police have not found any death note so far.
Pandavpura police have registered a case based on the complaint by Mr Thimmegowda. The body of Shwetha was handed over to relatives after the autopsy at Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute on Sunday.
