ALAPPUZHA: A Facebook video showing the fight between two persons at an unidentified location has drawn flak from the netizens. The 19-second video, uploaded by Abbassiya Lungi News page on June 22, has been shared by 1,036 and viewed by 72,000 in four days.
The fight happens on a village road between a coconut climber and a man clad in white dhoti and shirt. The former throws the man down to the road and grabs his legs.
The man tries to retaliate while a couple of people keep encouraging him to counterattack, while shooting the scene with the mobile phone. A number of coconuts and a ladder lie on the ground. The coconut climber is also seen keeping a knife on his hip. The fight ends abruptly in the video.
Mr N. Vinayakumaran Nair, Assistant Commandant, state hi-tech inquiry cell, told DC that it was a criminal offence to show such videos and could be removed after consulting with Facebook authorities. “Uploading such hateful videos is criminal culpability. It is sad to see such inhuman videos being celebrated on the cyberspace which encourages crime,” he said.
Haris Harisp, a Facebookian, asks whether anyone would upload the video if their father was beaten up this way, while Basil Mundackan criticises the onlookers who enjoyed the fight without intervening.
