Mallikarjun Kharge slams NDA for anti-labour policies
Hyderabad: Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said the Narendra Modi government was adopting a “pro-corporate and anti-labour” approach, sidetracking the pro-labour and pro-employee policies of the previous UPA government.
Addressing workers of the Indian National Trade Union Congress, Mr Kharge said several labour laws are being amended to help rich and corporates and to deny benefits to the labour class by the erstwhile Congress government.
Intuc president G. Sanjeeva Reddy presided over the meeting. Referring to Lalit-gate, Mr Kharge questioned the silence of Mr Narendra Modi despite his own ministerial colleagues being “neck deep in the scam.”
“We have been telling people that the Modi government will have to face the music after one year of his rule and that is what is happening now. Several scams involing BJP ministers and Chief Ministers have surfaced and the Prime Minister is keeping mum,” Mr Kharge said.
He appealed to the working class to participate in large numbers in the September 2 nationwide labour strike as well as the November 3 railway strike.
TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy who spoke on the occassion said the Congress always stood by the labour class and employees.
