MEA had taken the matter “seriously” & had “posted” Mr Thapar “back to headquarters”

New Delhi: India on Saturday recalled its high commissioner to New Zealand Ravi Thapar after an Indian domestic help, working in the high commissioner’s residence there, alleged that he was assaulted by Mr Thapar’s wife.
The ministry of external affairs said it had taken the matter “seriously” and had “posted” Mr Thapar “back to headquarters” in New Delhi, adding that it would “investigate the matter further”.
The matter was first reported to the MEA last month following which the ministry had rushed a team to conduct an “independent” probe into the matter there.
