Buddhists from China to visit AP
Mr Prasad informed that the tourism department has highlighted AP's potential as a tourist destination
GUNTUR: The Buddhist Association of China will visit Amaravati, Nagarjuna Konda and other Buddhist sites in AP and would render cooperation for the development of Buddhist pilgrimage.
AP Tourism Department principal secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad, who took part in the Beijing International Tourism Expo 2015-16 in China earlier this month, said that in an effort to portray AP as a global tourism destination, they conducted meetings with various associations in China. He added that Buddhist Association of China has expressed interest in visiting Amaravati, Nagarjuna Konda and other sites in AP.
Mr Prasad informed that the tourism department has highlighted AP's potential as a tourist destination and promoted the tourist spots such as beaches in and around Vishakaptnam, hill stations in AP, backwaters of Kakinada, Konaseema, Hope Island and Coringa Mangroves, and also the Buddhist circuit project linking Amaravati and Nagarjuna Konda.
“Our upcoming Buddhist circuit will attract both domestic and international tourists. Amaravati's ancient connection with Buddhism raises its prospects of becoming a global city,” he added. Mr Prasad informed that the government's elaborate plans to promote Water sports, beach tourism, spiritual tourism, eco-tourism, caravan tourism and heli-tourism was explained during the expo. Besides this, discussions with tour operators of China were conducted in which they showed interest in bringing Chinese tourists to India.
