Highway gang robs gold ornaments worth Rs 1.25 crore
Hyderabad: In a major robbery in Mahbubnagar district a highway gang stole gold ornaments worth Rs 1.25 crore from two people who were travelling in a Volvo bus.
The incident occurred when the bus coming to Hyderabad from Coimbatore halted at Alampur Crossroads for breakfast.
The victims, who left the bag of gold in the bus, found it missing when they came back after breakfast. They were carrying the ornaments to deliver to Kalyan Jewellers in Hyderabad.
Police said the victims Loknath and Sujaram were working as ornament makers in Coimbatore.
On Friday night they boarded a Volvo bus at Coimbatore belonging to Kesineni Travels.
They were carrying four kg gold jewellery which was to be delivered to Kalyan Jewellers in Hyderabad.
On Saturday at around 7.30 am the driver halted the bus at Ghar Dhaba at Alampur Crossroads.
“All passengers got out for breakfast. The victims left the jewellery bag in the bus and went to have breakfast. When they came back they found the bag missing,” said Manopad SI Vijay Kumar.
Police registered a case for robbery. Police suspect an interstate robbery gang.
