Benagluru man held for murdering wife
Bengaluru: The Yelahanka Old Town police have arrested a man who allegedly murdered his wife suspecting her fidelity. The accused, Ashok (24), a street vendor and a resident of Yelahanka, allegedly murdered his wife Meenakshi, 21, from Bagepalli in Tumakuru district. The couple got married around three years ago. They did not have any children.
The murder came to light after Meenakshi’s mother lodged a missing complaint on Thursday. She alleged in the complaint that she could not get hold of her daughter despite calling her repeatedly. When she called Ashok, he allegedly told her that he and Meenakshi had gone to Tirupati, but his wife went missing from a bus stand.
The mother approached the police and filed the complaint. The police picked up Ashok and he confessed that he murdered his wife with a machete as he suspected her fidelity. He told the police that he and Meenakshi had a heated argument on Saturday after he found that Meenakshi had made some calls made to a particular number. In a fit of rage, he butchered her to death and later buried the body in Yelahanka, he told the police.
The police, along with Ashok, visited a vacant plot and recovered a partially decomposed body of Meenakshi. The body bore injuries on the head and neck.
