Public can meet inspectors the evening between 7 pm and 8.30 pm

Coimbatore: The city police have altered the timing for public to meet the inspectors at the police stations in the city. Now the public can meet inspectors in the stations in the evenings between 7 pm and 8.30 pm.
The change in timings has been displayed in notice boards placed in front of the stations. Since June 9, the public were permitted to meet the inspector from 12noon to 1.30 pm and between 6pm and 7.30pm in all the stations except in Race Course, where the public were allowed to meet the inspector from 7 pm to 8.30 pm due to frequent protests in this jurisdiction.
However, as the inspectors felt that their presence in stations affects their daily routine of going on rounds during evenings, the timings have been changed to between 7 pm and 8.30 pm.
This initiative is meant to develop a better bonding between the police and the public and besides to avoid complainants returning disappointed without meeting the inspectors in the station.
The public can even call up the phone number, fix an appointment with the inspector to know his availability and meet him to redress grievances. The grievance timing is meant for all law and order, crime and All Women’s Police Stations in the city limits.
