Swami Agnivesh asks Kejriwal to avail of government health services

The dominant thought in the society is that studying in govt schools are things for the poor

New Delhi: To promote and improve services in government run education and health institutes, social activist Swami Agnivesh on Saturday urged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to avail of these sectors in his personal life.

While hailing the AAP government's decision to increase education outlay in the Delhi Budget, he called for a revolutionary change in people's mindset for lasting change. However, he added a word of caution saying merely allocating money was not enough to overhaul these sectors.

"Even today the dominant thought in the society is that studying in government schools and getting treated in government hospitals are things for the poor. This mentality is responsible for their dilapidated conditions," Agnivesh said.

He called on the government officials, MLAs and Ministers to ensure the education of their children in government institutions and to avail health services of government-run hospitals as and when needed.

Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia should take the lead in this regard, he said in a statement. These measures would give instant results and set an example for other states to follow, he added.
