Six hurt as jeep falls into a gorge near Tirumala
Jeep landed in the gorge when he lost control over the vehicle
Tirupati: Six persons injured when an overloaded jeep overturned after falling into a gorge near Papavinasanam near Tirumala on Friday. The victims belong to Adilabad and Karimnagar districts of Telangana State and the mishap took place when they were returning to Tirumala after visiting Papavinasanam near Tirumala.
According to information, 11 persons including 3 children were travelling in the jeep. The jeep driver, Raja, 45, tried his best to slowdown the vehicle after he noticed failure of the break. The jeep landed in the gorge when he lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turning around 7.30 am. Raja suffered injuries in the mishap.
An Ambulance van took the injured to Aswani Hospital in Tirumala and later rushed to Ruia Hospital after giving first aid.
Traffic DSP Y. Malleshwar Reddy and SI Murali Krishna supervised the arrangements to shift them to Ruia Hospital. The condition of one victim, an 8-year-old boy Abhiram stated to be critical. He sustained multiple injuries and one of his ears was severed in the mishap. His parents Mahendra, 32, and Bharati, 28, of Adilabad were also hurt in the accident apart from Lakshmi, 65, and Pochamma, 50, Karimnagar.
