Aruvikkara goes to polls today
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All arrangements are in place in Aruvikkara for the crucial Assembly by-election on Saturday.
As many as 506 officials collected polling materials from Nedumangad Girls Higher Secondary School and reached the 153 polling booths and one auxiliary booth spread across 88 locations.
A strong posse of 2, 500 security personnel, including around 250 BSF men, are deployed in all the polling stations.
Technical and distress response teams are kept ready to respond to any contingencies. District collector A Kaushikan said that polling agents deputed by candidates should be present at least one hour ahead of the start of polling.
With 16 candidates in the fray, two voting panels will be kept in each polling booth. While one will have the names of the candidates, the next panel will have NOTA option.
There are 184,223 voters, including 97,535 females and 86,688 males, and 991 postal votes.
Voters should produce the election identity card or any of the 12 documents with photos prescribed by the election commission.
