AP plans Corporate Social Responsibility in capital
Government hopes CSR will generate jobs in region
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has taken the Corporate Social Responsibility route for development work and job creation in the capital city of Amaravati and the capital region. APCRDA officials said that infrastructure and seed capital will be constructed in the next three years.
It has decided to involve corporate companies and their trusts in allied areas of economic and social development like health and education infrastructure projects. An APCRDA official said, “It is expected that the engagement through CSR shall result in quantifiable job creation and taking up of several development projects. We have issued a notification on June 25 inviting corporate companies and allied organisations. About 22,000 land owners of the capital city area extended their cooperation for building Amaravati by voluntarily giving consent under the Land Pooling Scheme.”
In the notification, the CRDA mentioned that the land breaking ceremony for building Amaravati was performed on June 6 by the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the government has declared that the construction of Amaravati will commence from Dasara.
“The government has set goals to complete the infrastructure development in Amaravati and seed capital construction within three years from October 2015. Building the capital is not merely building infrastructure, but more importantly, it involves the economic and social development of the region, particularly of the capital city,” officials said.
The CRDA is looking at CSR projects in education, healthcare, environment, capacity building, employability through skill development, livelihood development, adult literacy, social infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, welfare of the poor and distressed and other sectors.
