Remo D’Souza — currently basking in the success of ABCD 2 — will not be the part of the celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa’s new season. When asked why he’s ending his long association with the show, Remo said, “Four years is a long time to be on the same show. I needed to move on. Then I got the reason to make that move. Madhuri Dixit gave me the reason.”
When Madhuri opted out of Jhalak (she has been replaced by Shahid Kapoor on the judge’s panel), Remo says he saw no reason to continue his stint. “The main reason why I remained on the show for so long was Madhuri. Just sitting next to her was a thrill for me. But now when she’s no longer there, my other commitments are claiming my attention.”
Primary among those commitments is Remo’s new dance reality show on Star Plus. “It’s called Dance Plus and I am the super-judge on the show. Jhalak was a celebrity reality show. But what I like about Dance Plus is that it discovers new dancing talent. I’ve spent a large part of my life finding and grooming new talent. To me, that is the most fulfilling part of being where I am — to be able to give new talent a chance.”
Dance Plus will have three other judges serving under “super-judge” Remo. Meanwhile, Jhalak will now have four judges instead of the original three. While Karan Johar will continue with the show and Shahid will join him, the hunt is on for two other judges....
