Lenovo launches super-light LaVie Z, lighter than the MacBook Air
Apple’s MacBook Air has been touted as the lightest and thinnest laptop in the market, and undoubtedly, it as been one. However, MacBook Air has a tough competition to face now. Lenovo recently launched its 13.3-inch LaVie Z laptop, which weighs 1.87 pounds, as against the 13.3-inch MacBook Air that weighs 2.96 pounds.
The Lenovo LaVie Z is built out of magnesium-lithium alloy, and the display and keyboard are built into the chassis to eliminate additional parts.
On the performance front, the LaVie Z is equipped with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB solid-state drive. Running on Windows 8.1 operating system, the laptop sports a 13.3-inch LCD display with 2560x1600 pixel resolution.
For connectivity, the Lenovo LaVie Z sports two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI connection, and an SD memory card slot. It also has built-in support for the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard and Bluetooth 4.0.
As compared to a long running battery of an Apple MacBook Air, the LaVie Z doesn’t have too much to offer. As opposed to the Air’s runtime of about 12-15 hours, LaVie Z offers a runtime of 7 hours (as claimed by Lenovo). Also, although the Lenovo laptop sports a quad-HD display, when it comes to comparing it to that of the MacBook Air, it still falls short of the latter’s Retina Display.
The Lenovo LaVie Z is priced at $1,499. However, nothing has yet been announced about the laptop’s launch in India.
