No decision on fee reimbursement by the Telangana government

The TS government is looking to reduce the financial burden of the scheme by imposing certain eligibility criteria

Hyderabad: No decision has been taken on the guidelines for the fee reimbursement scheme by the Telangana government even as Eamcet counselling is likely to begin from July 6 as suggested by the Hyderabad High Court.

The TS government is looking to reduce the financial burden of the scheme by imposing certain eligibility criteria. This is even as the pending fee reimbursement arrears to engineering colleges have run up to Rs 2,000 crore even after the release of Rs 400 crore by the government.

It is likely that a final decision on the scheme could be taken by the month end, after the number of engineering seats available for counselling becomes clear.

Prof. T. Papi Reddy, Telangana State Council of Higher Education chairman, said there would be clarity on the matter by Saturday, June 27. The Hyderabad High Court had set June 28 as the deadline for appeals of engineering colleges to be heard.
