L&T worried about Hyderabad Metro Rail’s work pace

The Sultan Bazaar stretch has a huge list of utilities and acquisition of properties

Hyderabad: With there being no confirmation from the state government on the re-alignment at Sultan Bazaar and Assembly area, L&T officers are worried as the momentum of work is going to suffer.

According to sources in L&T, only technical specifications have been given but there is nothing in writing conveyed. While the Assembly sector will require acquisition of new properties, the Sultan Bazaar stretch has a huge list of utilities and acquisition of properties.

A senior officer of L&T said, “There are two major utilities in terms of sewage water lines which will have to be shifted. Mapping and re-shifting them will take time.”

At the same time, Koti Women’s College and also Osmania Medical College women’s hostel is going to have the metro run close to them which is not acceptable to them.

There is a feeling that at the present existing pace, the project will come to a standstill because of the gaps.

While the HMRL MD N.V.S. Reddy states that they are working out the finer details, there is growing worry about these pockets.
