IIT counselling will begin from Monday

JEE Main rank lists still awaited

Hyderabad: Web counselling for admissions to IITs, NITs and central institutions will begin from June 29. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority released a fresh schedule on Thursday.

Counselling was expected to begin from Thursday according to the original schedule but had to be postponed as the CBSE did not release the JEE Main ranks. The CBSE said it was yet to receive Class XII marks from all state boards.

JEE advanced ranks are for admission to IITs and the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad while JEE Main ranks are for admissions to NITs and other Central institutions.

Interestingly, counselling for admission to the IITs will be closed first and classes will begin from July 21. But at the NITs, last round of seat acceptance will be between July 22 and 26. Academic sessions at the NITs will commence from July 27.

There is no confirmation on when the JEE Main rank lists will be published. They were to have been announced before Monday, when counselling is set to begin.

The JEE Main unit of the CBSE had set June 25 as the deadline for state boards to send Class XII marks of all their students. It is likely the ranks could be released in the next couple of days.
