KG to PG was a different scheme, though its spirit of free education was being implemented

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is slowly preparing the ground to implement its flagship KG to PG scheme from next year. Wednesday's decision to impart free Intermediate education in government junior colleges is a step in this direction.
Education minister Kadiam Srihari said education in government schools is free till Class 10, and the govenment had now added Intermediate. "For higher education we are setting up 10 residential colleges for women in the ten districts of the state, he said.
However, Mr Srihari said KG to PG was a different scheme, though its spirit of free education was being implemented. “We didn't want to implement it in haste and that is why we decided to defer it to the next academic year,” he said.
