Four men were killed in three separate accidents in the city since Wednesday night

Bengaluru: Four men were killed in three separate accidents in the city since Wednesday night. Two youths who were riding a motorcycle died on the spot when a lorry bearing Andhra Pradesh registration number hit their vehicle from the rear in Kengeri late on Wednesday night.

Police said the accident happened at around 9.40 pm when the motorcycle rider Pradeep Kumar, 23, a tempo driver by profession, and pillion rider, C. Vinay, 22, a garment factory worker, were returning to their homes in Mysore Road from their friend’s house. The bodies were shifted to Rajarajeshwari Hospital for post-mortem. The police have seized the lorry, but the driver managed to escape. “More details about the driver are being collected and he will be arrested soon,” a senior police officer said.

In another accident, a 45-year-old automobile spares businessman from S.P. Road died on the spot after his scooter hit a road hump and he slipped and fell from the vehicle in Sheshadripuram at around 3 am on Thursday. The victim has been identified as Shankar Vachani, a resident of Kumara Krupa East. He fell and sustained severe head injuries resulting in his death, the police said. High Grounds traffic police have taken up a case of unnatural death and begun investigations. The victim was declared brought dead at K.C. General Hospital and his body was shifted to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem.

In the third incident an auto-rickshaw driver died after he lost control over his vehicle and hit a pedestrian before colliding into a compound wall on Tenginatopu road in Sannakkibailu off Magadi road on Wednesday night. Police said the accident happened around 8.30 pm and the police said the auto-driver Ramu, 38, a resident of Sannakkibailu, was driving at a high speed. He first hit a pedestrian, identified as Paresh Chandra Jena, 53, a native of Odisha and a garment factory employee.

Ramu then drove his autorickshaw forward and hit a compound wall and sustained head injuries. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital on Magadi road. His body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to his family members. Jena, who was critically injured in the accident, is being treated at a private hospital in Sunkadkatte, the police said.
