Namakkal: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth, recently released from jail after being arrested in a theft case, in Kollihills of the district, police said on Friday.
The class 9 student of a government high school in Kolli hills was offered a lift by two-wheeler borne Elavarasan (23), taken to a house in a remote place and repeatedly raped on June 24, they said.
Following a complaint by the girl's parents, police on Friday arrested Elavarasan.
After school hours, the girl and her friend were waiting to catch a bus to their village Semmedu when the man offered them a lift. While the victim accepted it, her friend chose to stay back for the bus. As the girl did not return home, her friend informed her parents about the man following which they lodged a police complaint.
