Vijayawada: A woman on Wednesday gave birth to a baby in the ‘108’ ambulance on the premises of Government hospital in Nandigama, Krishna district owing to the negligence of the hospital staff and absence of doctors.
According to sources, a pregnant woman K. Rani was rushed to the hospital in Nandigama by her husband and relatives around 9 am after she went into labour pain. However, due to the reluctance of the hospital staff to admit the woman in the absence of doctors, she was left with no option other than delivering the child in an ambulance parked on the hospital premises.
Meanwhile, relatives of the woman were furious over the negligent attitude and took to protest against the hospital authorities. Shouting slogans against the hospital authorities, relatives of the patient led an angry mob to the hospital. It was later learnt that both the mother and child are safe.
