Techie killed on Chennai bypass
Chennai: A 29-year-old software professional from Anna Nagar travelling in a car was killed and his female colleague was seriously injured when the vehicle lost control on Chennai bypass and smashed against the median after a tyre burst incident on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as G. Prakash, an employee of an IT major in Madras export processing zone, Tambaram.
While Prakash, a software engineer working in the firm’s HR division, his colleague, M. Megha, 28, a techie and resident of Ormes road, Kilpauk, was driving the car when the mishap happened on the bypass stretch between Thiruneermalai and Anakaputhur.
As both were residents of the same neighbourhood and worked in same firm, they used to travel together in Megha’s car. They used to take Chennai bypass to avoid the morning rush hour traffic in the city to reach MEPZ, police said.“It looks like the driver lost control and the car first hit left side barricade of the road and then flipped to land on the central median. Megha was conscious immediately after the accident and she only asked the paramedical staff to take them to a private hospital in Porur.
“Both were immediately taken to the hospital where Prakash died within few hours. Megha has suffered serious neck injuries and is unconscious now,” the police said. The accident caused traffic snarl for more than 30 minutes on the bypass.
