Hyderabad: IIT-Tirupati will be mentored by IIT Madras, which had also mentored IIT Hyderabad. IIT Tirupati is set to start academic sessions in August this year with 120 students in four streams of undergraduate engineering.
IIT Madras director Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi will function as mentor director of IIT-T until the first director is appointed by the Union HRD ministry. IIT-Madras will also mentor the new IIT at Palakkad. Authorities in charge of IIT-T said that all the temporary infrastructural and faculty arrangements are made.
“We are all set with infrastructure, faculty and staff to get started. We see a bright future for this IIT as it is located in the knowledge and industrial hub that the government is developing around Tirupati,” Prof. K.N. Satyanarayana, professor in-charge, IIT Tirupati, said.
