Counselling for IIT, NIT put off
Hyderabad : Counselling for the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology and other central institutions has been postponed due to non-availability of JEE Main rank lists. Rank lists of the JEE Main were supposed to be released on Wednesday. The JEE Main unit of the CBSE stated that rank lists couldn’t be released because students’ 12th standard marks were yet to be received. The revised schedule will be announced on Friday.
According to the schedule prepared by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, JEE Main rank lists were to be announced on Wednesday and qualified students, in both JEE Main and Advanced, would exercise their Web options from Thursday. But CBSE said it had not received 12th marks from all the states. In a notice, the CBSE said that marks would have to be sent by Thursday.
For the first time this year, joint counselling for would be held simultaneously through a single process. Meanwhile, officials from TS and AP Boards of Intermediate Education said they had sent the marks. “We have sent the marks of all the candidates who appeared for the Inter 2nd year exams in the state,” a TS BIE official said.
A top official of the AP BIE said, “Regular Inter students’ marks have already been sent. But results of the Advanced Supplementary exams will be declared in three days. That we are yet to send.” TS BIE officials, however, said the CBSE doesn’t accept supplementary exams marks. In a statement, the JoSAA said filling of choices would not begin from Thursday.
