Cash-for-vote: All eyes on ACB notice to Chandrababu Naidu

TS ACB had planned to issue the notice to Naidu after confirming his voice on the video

Hyderabad: With the forensic report of the audio and video pertaining to the cash-for-vote case presented before the ACB court, all eyes are now on the impending notice to AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and others whose names figure in the case. Telangana ACB had planned to issue the notice to Mr Naidu after confirming his voice on the video and audio recordings.

Meanwhile, media reports are in circulation that the tapes are genuine and not tampered as had been alleged by TD. Sources in Telangana government said that the notice would be served after taking legal opinions and when all the reports were in order. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been briefed about the forensic reports in his farmhouse. Nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson also met Mr Rao and discussed the case, it is learnt.

DGP Anurag Sharma had met the CM on Tuesday and briefed him on all aspects of the case and the ongoing Section 8 controversy. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari on Wednesday reiterated that the Telangana government had not tapped the phones of Mr Naidu or any other TD leader.

“Telangana government did not tap anybody’s phone. Naidu and other Telugu Desam leaders are indulging in false propaganda against TRS government only to divert attention,” he said. “Why is he dodging the issue? If it’s not his voice, he should say so, or he should admit it’s his voice. He cannot escape from the law. He has to face punishment if he is found guilty,” he said.
