Panel says hospital sold baby

State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has issued notice to hospital management
Hyderabad: The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has issued notice to a hospital management in Suryapet for allegedly selling a baby to adjust the hospital bill of a family.
The commission said that it had come to its notice that Ms Janamma, resident of Yenubamula, S. Athmakur mandal, in Nalgonda district, was delivered of a baby girl at the Siva Sai Hospital in Suryapet.
A Cesearean Section was performed on her by Dr Prameela, wife of Dr Ramachandra Nayak, owner of the hospital, the commission said. The commission said in its notice, “Dr Ramchandra Nayak and his compounder Mr Venkat sold the baby and adjusted the bill which the parents of the baby were not in a position to pay.”
The commission has sent a notice to the district collector and the district medical and health officer Nalgonda to submit a report by July 5.
