Two staffers, friend nabbed for attempt to steal

Hyderabad: A major attention diversion case at Banjara Hills has turned out to be fake. Police found that the complainant's employees had hidden the money and were trying to cheat their employers. Police arrested the two chemical firm employees and their friend for trying to steal Rs 20 lakh. CCTV footages helped cops to crack the case in a few hours.
The arrested people were identified as Billa Srinivas, 31, sales coordinator, from Vidya Nagar and Injavarapu Ramesh, 22, office boy-cum-driver from Bhagyanagar Colony, KPHB. Both of them are working for the firm named Hazel. The cops also arrested Tuni Suresh, 25, an unemployed youth from Vidya Nagar, Hyderabad.
At 9.15 am the Jubilee Hills police got a complaint from the company branch head Kukantla Bhimal Rai Sekhar that his colleagues Ramesh and Srinivas were robbed by an attention diversion gang on Road Number 45 while they were going on a bike to deposit money with a Pharma company. He alleged that the gang snatched a bag containing Rs 20,60,000 and escaped.
Police soon started an investigation collecting CCTV footages. “We verified the CCTV footages in the complainant’s office to Road No. 45 which the “victims” claimed as the scene of offence. It was seen that both proceeded towards the route and nobody followed them. The police grew suspicious and questioned them after which they admitted it was a fabricated story,” said police commissioner Mahender Reddy. He added that the third accused Suresh was given the money and they went back to the company with a cooked up story.
According to the cops the two arrested people used to assist manager Shekar to collect money from various firms in the twin cities. Taking advantage of the situation both hatched a plan to loot the money. The three were produced before court and remanded.
