Karnataka government’s appeal will bring clarity, says BJP

Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan denied her party's hand in appeal against Jayalalithaa

Chennai: Denying that her party had anything to do with the Karnataka government’s move to go an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s acquittal in the assets case, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan claimed the appeal will only ensure clarity on the diverse judgment delivered by the courts in Karnataka.

“The Karnataka government has moved the Supreme Court as there is a provision… the law will take its own course. There will be a clarity on the issue,” Tamilisai said on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters here she alleged the Election Commission was not taking steps to curb violations of model code of conduct in the R. K. Nagar Assembly constituency facing by-poll.

Regretting that the state government had not shown attention to observing the International Day of Yoga, in a big way especially when the entire country and also the rest of the world celebrated the occasion in a grand manner, the senior BJP leader said the state government should also have joined the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was instrumental in getting June 21 declared as International Day of Yoga.

“The day was observed even in many Islamic nations…it is unfortunate that the Day was not observed by the state government, which chose to announce holiday for R. K. Nagar Assembly constituency facing by-poll,” Tamilisai said.
