Hyderabad: A man and his daughter died on Tuesday in Mulugu village of Medak district, when the roof of their house collapsed. The villagers said ongoing drainage works near the house, which is part of the road expansion, caused the collapse. The contractor started the work using a JCB machine without prior intimation to the residents. According to the police, the house of Gousemiya, 71, which was already in a dilapidated condition collapsed soon after.
A cement slab in front the house collapsed, killing Gousemiya and his daughter Jalal Bi on the spot. Angry relatives staged a protest on the Rajiv Rahadari demanding compensation for the family of the dead. Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy visited the family and assured that the government and the contracter would pay compensation to the family.
