TRS warns of stir over Section 8
Protests planned across state from Wednesday, KCR may sit on deeksha in Delhi
Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti government, party and leaders warned of another movement and strong retaliation if the Centre asks the Governor to impose Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act on pressure from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu. Telangana leaders planned protests across the state from Wednesday and there is also talk that the CM may sit on deeksha in New Delhi and a state wide bandh will be called soon if the Governor moves ahead.
Dr K. Keshava Rao, TRS secretary general, however, said the Centre did not give any instructions to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to take control of law and order in Hyderabad. “As per my knowledge, no instructions were given by the Centre to the Governor to implement Section 8. If there is any problem, the Union Home Ministry will discuss it with the Governor. In fact, the situation does not warrant Governor’s rule in Hyderabad. Hyderabad is peaceful,” he said.
Displaying the Constitution of India and a note on Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act, he asserted all states have the same powers, law and order was a state subject and Governors do not have special powers but have to go by the Constitution. Taking a dig at Mr Naidu’s attempt to divert the ‘cash for vote’ scam where TD MLA, Revanth Reddy was caught red handed and Mr Naidu figures in audio recording, he said there was no phone tapping but only mobile recording in the ACB trap.
“A thief was caught and name of another thief figured. No law supports thieves. A criminal case has been booked and the President of India or the Governor can stall it in this country. In criminal law there is admitted fact. ‘Cash for vote’ has proved the involvement of many including Mr Naidu,” he added.
